Beyond Telepathy—Apr. 8 is the deadline for registrations for the "Beyond Telepathy" workshop, Apr. 13, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at All Saints’, Ft. Lauderdale. The cost for the day is $5 and includes lunch. Childcare will be provided. Reservations are needed for both the workshop and for childcare; registration forms and additional information are available in all parishes. If you have questions, call Gail McShane, 1-800-268-993 or 305-373-0881, ext. 23.

Clergy Conference—Information on the Spring Clergy Conference, May 21-23, has been mailed to all clergy. For the first time, it will be possible to register online for this conference, by going to www.diosef.org/register. Try it—this can save all of us time and paper!

Staff change—In the restructuring of office tasks, the position of accounting clerk has been eliminated, so Gladis Zacarias is no longer with us. Ligia Suarez is assisting part-time in the accounting department, Monday-Thursday mornings.

Sabbatical—After 10 years in the Diocesan Office, Canon SuzeAnne Silla is taking a sabbatical this summer. She will be gone from the second week in June through late September. The bishops will be taking their vacations during that period, but are planning their schedules so that we will always have at least one bishop here.

News needed—In future issues of The Net, we’d like to follow up on two aspects of the vision/mission process—open baptism and vision statements. If your parish has been advertising open baptism, we’d like to know how long you’ve done this, how and where you’ve advertised and what the response has been. We’d also like to know which parishes have used or are using the vision-mission-planning process to write (or revise) a parish vision statement, and what that vision statement is. Please send this information to Mary Cox at the Diocesan Office, preferably by email at: episcorat@aol.com.

Fees for Supply Clergy—The Clergy and Lay Compensation and Insurance Committee has approved a new rate for supply clergy officiating at two Sunday services. The new "stole fee", which will be printed in the new diocesan Journal, is $250, "recommended, but negotiable".

Computer giveaway--Gateway has announced that it will donate up to 4,500 computers used during the Winter Olympics. Grant consideration is limited to eligible organizations recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as nonprofit entities, with priority given to schools and community centers whose programs help enhance access to technology for traditionally under-served communities. Any organization interested in being considered must complete an online application; faxed or written applications will not be accepted. The application is on the Gateway website at: www.gateway.com/Olympics/donations/shtml.

EFM Mentor Training—is scheduled for May 24-26, 2002 at the Duncan Center. Both Basic Mentor and Mentor Formation seminars will be offered. If you’re interested in joining or forming an Education for Ministry group, or becoming an EFM mentor, please contact diocesan EFM Coordinator Bill Thorstad at 561-392-3417, or by email at mjollnir5@aol.com. For additional information on EFM, go to: http://www.sewanee.edu/EFM/EFMhome.html.

Parish Communicators’ Workshop—The first in a series of workshops sponsored by diocesan Communications Ministry for parish communicators is scheduled for May 18, 9:30 a.m. to noon, at St. Joseph’s, Boynton Beach. (Future workshops will be held in other parts of the diocese.) Topics will reflect the responses and comments received on last spring’s parish communication questionnaire. Watch for more information soon on this opportunity to learn some practical skills for making our ministries more visible.

French/Creole LEM classes--Lay Eucharistic Ministry (LEM) training in French/Creole will be conducted for the first time this spring. Dean Fritz Bazin will be the instructor for the classes, which will begin in April at St. Paul’s et les Martyrs d’Haiti, 6744 N. Miami Avenue, Miami. Classes will begin in April. Students must pre-register, and the registration form must have the signature of the student’s rector. Contact Diocesan Registrar Estela Terrero, 800-268-9993 or 305-373-0881, ext. 17, for a form.

Diocesan Convention Golf Tournament—Diocesan Convention may seem far away (Oct. 18-19), but there’s a part of it that needs to be on your calendar soon—the convention golf tournament on Oct. 18 at International Links, 1802 NW 37 Ave., Miami. Entries must be received by Jul. 15.
