FEBRUARY  2 0 0 6

This month brings us two opportunities to celebrate the ministry of cathedrals.

On Saturday, Feb. 25, at 4 p.m., the Very Rev. Douglas W. McCaleb will be installed as dean of our diocesan cathedral, Trinity, in Miami. Everyone’s invited!

Two weeks earlier, the weekend of Feb. 10-12, the Very Rev. Samuel Lloyd, who became dean of Washington National Cathedral last spring, will visit our diocese. He will preach at the 12:05 p.m. Eucharist at Trinity Cathedral on Friday, Feb. 10. All diocesan clergy are invited to a luncheon with Dean Lloyd in the cathedral hall after the service; if you plan to attend the luncheon, RSVP to Bishop Frade’s assistant, Sally James, sally@diosef.org or 800-268-9993 or 305-373-0881, ext. 20.

On Saturday, Feb. 11, everyone in the diocese is invited for light refreshments and conversation with Dean Lloyd at the Duncan Center from 2-3:30 p.m. RSVP for this event to National Cathedral Association Regional Representative Joanna Wragg, 305-372-1234 or jwragg@wraggcasas.com.

PLSE--The PLSE ("pulse") program is an interdenominational effort with the dual purpose of nurturing young persons who want to explore a possible call to vocational church leadership, and developing a mentoring-guiding-shepherding process that encourages and lifts up those who explore or discern a call. PLSE maintains an interactive website, www.theplse.org, for young persons exploring a call to ministry and the people (including congregations) who support them. Diocesan youth ministry encourages high school and college students to visit the site and sign up online to become part of the conversation. Young persons who enroll in the site earn the title “PLSE Leader”—a good addition to college and job applications.
