To help us “make known to all people the transforming power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ”, Bishop Frade is asking for donations from all parishioners this summer so that our diocese can participate in a national advertising campaign for the Episcopal Church. A television ad targeted specifically at “GenX” persons (early 20s-early 40s) will be shown nationally during “back to school” season in August and September. A preview of that ad and others, along with resources for publicizing your own parish, are available at www.episcopalchurch.org/adcollaborative . Our diocesan advertising plan includes public service announcements on local radio and television and in hometown newspapers throughout the diocese, from Key West up through Martin County, and ads in bus shelters.

Checks payable to the Diocese of Southeast Florida, marked for "diocesan ad campaign", should be mailed to: Diocese of Southeast Florida, 525 NE 15 St., Miami, FL  33132. Donations can also be made online by clicking on "donations” on our website, www.diosef.org.

Graduate information—Canon for Youth and Young Adult Ministry Terrence Taylor is asking all rectors to make sure that the diocese has information on the future plans of 2005 high school graduates in our congregations. The diocesan youth webpage, http://www.diosef.org/youth/index.htm , has a form for this information that can be completed online or downloaded to mail or fax. Canon Taylor will forward this contact information to the appropriate campus or military chaplain’s office or local congregation, so that our young adults who have left their home parishes for study, military service or work will be able to find a faith community wherever they go.

Anti-Racism Training—The Diocesan Anti-Racism Commission has announced an Anti-Racism Training workshop for Nov. 5 at St. Paul’s, Delray Beach. This training, which was mandated by General Convention for all clergy and lay leaders, was first offered in this diocese last November for diocesan staff, Executive Board and Standing Committee. The Commission intends to make these training workshops ongoing throughout the diocese and to involve as many people as possible. Ecumenical Youth Event—“Faith in 3-D”, an event for youth in grades 6-12 co-sponsored by the Episcopal Church, the Presbyterian Church USA and the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, will be held at Disney World, Jan. 13-16, 2006.  Faith in 3-D will explore what we have in common as Christians and how we celebrate our differences. There will also be time to participate in the Disney Youth Education Series, in which young people can experience life issues, world cultures and future opportunities. For more information, go to www.fathin3d.org

Revisions to Diocesan Canons--Any revisions to the Canons to be proposed at Diocesan Convention must be presented to the Constitutions and Canons Committee "not less than 90 days prior to the next Convention", which means not later than July 20, and then be presented to the delegates "not less than 30 days prior to Convention", which would be no later than Sept. 20.

Licenses to Officiate—A reminder to non-canonically resident clergy: Licenses to officiate in the diocese must be renewed annually. If you are officiating by permission in the Diocese of Southeast Florida and do not have a license for 2005, please contact Bishop Frade’s assistant, Sally James, sally@diosef.org or 800-268-9993 or 205-373-0881, ext. 20, as quickly as possible to request a license.

Helpful resource--Here is the link to the National Church “Studying Your Congregation & Community” webpage: http://12.0.101.88/  The site allows you to display and print two charts and a community demographic profile. The two charts track membership, participation and giving over the most recently available eleven years for your congregation and your diocese. These data are from annual Parochial Reports. The community demographic profile will give you a demographic overview of the zip code area in which your church is located.

Episcopal Church website survey—Revisions continue to be made to the national website of the Episcopal Church. Now is your chance to express your opinion on how the site is working and to give your ideas on what would make it a more helpful, accessible and user-friendly resource. Go to the “interim homepage” at www.episcopalchurch.org  and click on “Take a website survey” at the bottom of the page. There are only 12 questions, and it will take about five minutes
