By now you’ve probably heard that if you missed Beyond Telepathy, you missed a glorious day of laughter (and tears), music, conversation and great insights into how we can share Jesus with those around us. If you weren’t able to be there, watch for future Next Step events, and meanwhile, check out the resources suggested by the Beyond Telepathy team; a list is on the diocesan website at: www.diosef.org/beyondadd.html.

Clergy Conference—Registrations for the Spring Clergy Conference, May 21-23, at the Duncan Center, need to be received in the Diocesan Office by Friday, May 10. You can register online by going to www.diosef.org/register. Musicians--vocal and/or instrumental--are needed to lead worship; if you’re one of those, please arrive at 10 a.m. on May 21 with voice or instrument ready for a rehearsal.

Journal—Many of you have asked about the delay in publication of the Diocesan Journal. Unfortunately, the volunteer who has been compiling the information had a serious computer problem just as we were ready for final review of the material, and we’re now in the process of reconstructing the document. It will be available—in print, on CD and (much of it) on the diocesan website—as soon as possible.

Updates—In order to keep our database current and accurate, please remember to give the Diocesan Office all changes of address, phone/fax/cellular numbers and email address for clergy and lay leaders. We intend soon to have a place on the website where you can submit these changes online, but meanwhile, call our receptionist, Jessy Cajina, or email her at jessy@diosef.org, with updated information.

Diocesan Convention—It’s not too soon to mark your calendar for the Diocesan Convention, Oct. 18-19-- and for the convention golf tournament on Oct. 18 at International Links, 1802 NW 37 Ave., Miami. Tournament entries must be received by Jul. 15.

Parish Communicators’ Workshop—The first in a series of workshops sponsored by diocesan Communications Ministry for parish communicators is scheduled for May 18, 9:30 a.m. to noon, at St. Joseph’s, Boynton Beach. (Future workshops will be held in other parts of the diocese.) The parish communicators at St. Joseph’s will share public relations and internal communications strategies and techniques that have worked for their parish, and there will be an opportunity to see how a parish website can be created—plus time to exchange ideas with others who are working in this ministry. We need to know how many will attend, so please RSVP to Mary Cox at the Diocesan Office, by phone, 1-800-268-9993 or email, EpiscoRat@aol.com.

Grant writer needed—The Southeast Florida Episcopal Foundation is looking for a part-time volunteer grant writer, or someone with experience in soliciting grants for nonprofit/religious organizations.  If you have this background and are interested in working with the Foundation, as well as other diocesan ministries, to find and solicit available grant funds, please contact Charles Ring at 561-799-6424 or email sefef@aol.com.

St. Andrew’s-Sewanee School grants—St. Andrew’s-Sewanee School is offering grants to enable employees of the Episcopal Church to send their children to the school at a substantially reduced tuition. The School will reduce the tuition by 40% for a boarding students who has a parent working full-time for an Episcopal institution. To be eligible for this grant, a student must complete the regular application process and be admitted. For more information, contact the SAS Office of Admissions, toll free 866-513-8290 or www.sasweb.org.

News needed—In future issues of The Net, we’d like to feature the ways in which parishes are working toward their own vision and mission, beginning with how parishes have been using the vision-mission-planning process to write (or revise) a parish vision statement. Please send your parish vision/mission statement to Mary Cox at the Diocesan Office, preferably by email at: episcorat@aol.com.

Free computers—The Diocesan Office is “retiring” two computers with keyboards, modems and Windows 95. Call and let Jessy know if you’re interested; we’ll draw lots on May 15.

Congratulations —to this month’s "Sharp Eyes" winners: Fr. Michael Hartney and Deacon Hap Lewis! A somewhat different “Sharp Eyes” competition begins with this issue of Grapevine: Take a good look at the pictures that scroll across the front page of the diocesan website, and see how many you can identify by either the event and place, or the person(s) pictured. Email your answers to EpiscoRat@aol.com. The most complete list wins; in case of a tie, the earliest email will be the winner.
